Si fuera yo...
Goal: Students will explore what they would do in certain situations. While doing so they will gain a greater understanding of the situations that many immigrants find themselves in and what drives the decisions they make. It is my hope that students will have a deeper understanding of the world they live in beyond their immediate environment and learn to become sympathetic but critical thinking members of our society. Students will have the opportunity to reflect extensively on the topic of immigration. They will focus on how ideas/opinions are expressed in today’s world. They will explore how these ideas represent different beliefs and ideologies. A specific focus will take place on El Salvador and the presence of the Mara Salvatrucha in the United States. Students will have the opportunity to read the novel Vida y muerte en la Mara Salvatrucha. Students will also continue to work on the subjunctive tense with specific focus "si clauses".
